There is an error in Google's listing, as it lists the location as "Boondocks" instead of "Goondocks." I am delighted that there is finally a wonderful barbecue establishment right in downtown Astoria. We had the pleasure of trying the brisket and rib plate, and both were absolutely outstanding. The barbecue had a delightful smoky flavor with a perfect touch of sweetness. The ribs were incredibly tender, and the brisket was wonderfully crisp yet juicy. The owners were exceptionally kind and welcoming. Heather was an absolute delight and even frosted the cupcakes while we were enjoying our meal. They were truly delicious, and I'm going to need that frosting recipe. I almost forgot, they have cocktails! I wholeheartedly recommend dining here.

It's Goondocks, notot boondocks btw. ...BBQ was amazing. Well balanced smoke and seasoning on the brisket and st louis style pork ribs. Bbq sauce works well since it has a great mix of sweet salty tang to it. We recommend checking it out when you visit Astoria.

Great BBQ joint right downtown. Brisket, beans, cornbread. Delicious. My wife had ribs. We'll be back.

There is no restaurant with food like this anywhere on the coast! A great addition to Astoria with flavor-rich barbecue. I recommend the Brisket!

This place was magnificent and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some great authentic barbecue in the Astoria area. The food is great and the portions generous. The atmosphere is so welcoming and fun, I was surprised to see that it wasn’t packed full on a Saturday night. On top of it all the staff is extremely friendly. My partner and I were helped by Heather and she is one if the kindest people I have ever met. She is super attentive and helpful and made the already great experience 1000x better. Plus Heather’s pineapple upside down cake is also delicious. No notes! I would definitely visit again. :)

My empty bowl of amazing baked beans is still warm as I write this. The smash burger was incredible. The pulled pork nachos were out of this world and will feed an army. We will be back!

John and Heather (the married couple who own and operate) are AMAZING! They are so kind, talented, and thoughtful. You can tell they love their cooking as much as they care about their customers. I’ve been here twice and have left very satisfied. The ribs have a wonderful peppery flavor, although don’t expect them to fall off the bone. They are tender and extremely delicious with an ever so subtle kick at the end of the bite. Recommend if you get the ribs to get it with the BBQ sauce on the side as they are generous with how much they drizzle on top of the ribs. The brisket is moist and delicious. The brisket chili and cheese hot dog was a cool idea and very good. Recommend you get it with the pickled jalapeños for an added kick! Highly recommend. You need to correct google though! It’s “Goondocks Bistro,” not “Boondocks Bistro.”

Their food was great! And a really good value! I had the smash burger—which was awesome, and they have the best fries!! Their nacho plate was huge. And of course, the owners and staff are lovely and personable. We will be back for sure
